Rev. Deborah has been granted a sabbatical leave after our Annual Meeting March 2nd which will continue through the end of May. The United Church of Canada stipulates that every pastoral charge provide a paid sabbatical of at least 3 months to members of the order of ministry who have completed at least five years of service in one call or appointment. Rev. Deborah began her call at Westview United Church in 2014, so it’s time for a sabbatical!
Rooted in the biblical practice of the Sabbath day, a sabbatical is a time for renewal, study and rest. Deborah’s sabbatical plan includes all three. She will not combine her three month sabbatical leave with vacation time and will return on June 3 to participate in the 100th Anniversary of the United Church.
Rev. Karen Kuzek [serves Theodore, lives in Yorkton] has graciously taken on the role of Pastoral Charge Supervisor for Board meetings. She will cover for urgent pastoral care and funerals as well as preaching a few times while Rev. Deborah is away. In addition to Rev. Karen, Rev. Miles Russell, and a variety of voices will be heard from the pulpit over these three months.
“Thank you Westview UC for this gift of time for rest, study and reflection. I’ll be back in the office on June 3, 2025. In the meantime, I know you will be well served by the Board and Sabbatical committee”. God Bless! -Reverend Deborah
